About Government Savings Bank (from the 2006 Annual Report)
Since GSB’s founding in 1913,
the Bank has always promoted savings as the fundamental means by which Thai
people can enjoy a healthy and sustainable economic life and thereby a
self-reliant and stable society over the long term. Today, GSB invests in the
development of Thailand at all levels, from microfinance to megaprojects, to
create strong foundations and bright prospects for a prosperous and sustainable
national economy.
From its original role as
Thailand’s state bank for savings, GSB has been continuously expanding and
moving in new directions. It now focuses on savings promotion, instilling
financial discipline and empowering grassroots economic, human and social
development. The Bank aims to provide a comprehensive range of competitive,
convenient and sustainable financial services to Thai people from all walks of
life throughout the nation.
